Introducing a financial incentive scheme to encourage financial services industry practitioners to acquire and upgrade professional skills in the asset and wealth management sector

The Financial Incentive Scheme for Professional Training (“Scheme”) aims:

  1. to enhance the competency and professionalism of in-service practitioners within the asset and wealth management (“WAM”) sector; and
  2. to assist other practitioners within the financial services industry in acquiring the knowledge and skills required for entering the asset and wealth management field.

The Subsidy Scheme for Individual Applicants

The Scheme will subsidise eligible participants’ participation in a wide range of WAM-related training programmes offered by various reputable eligible professional institutions.Eligible training programmes under the Scheme include only face-to-face courses and seminars, live webinars (pre-recorded seminars/webinars are not included), as well as certain designated e-courses. For details of the eligible programmes, please refer to Eligible Training Programmes. The information therein will be updated from time to time.

Under the Scheme, each eligible participant will be reimbursed 80% of course fees upon satisfactory completion of eligible  courses, subject to a cap of $15,000 per person for the entire duration of the Scheme (i.e. from 1 October 2016 to 31 March 2026).

As the Scheme will conclude on 31 March 2026, the Scheme will cease accepting applications in an orderly manner. The Scheme will not accept reimbursement applications for courses completed after 31 December 2025, and ALL reimbursement applications submitted after 31 January 2026 will not be accepted.

To benefit more industry practitioners, the Scheme has also relaxed the eligibility requirement to cover in-between job practitioners who have been licensed and worked for eligible financial institutions from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2025, in addition to in-service practitioners.

* Applicants must complete the online application and submit all required documents to the HKSI Institute within FOUR months from the course completion date or by 31 January 2026, whichever is earlier. For the avoidance of doubt, all applications for courses completed between 1 October 2025 and 31 December 2025 (both dates inclusive) must be submitted by 31 January 2026.
